Twerk Away The Trauma

You’ve been told to hide your hips.
To dim your sensuality.
To disconnect from the rhythm in your body.

But what if the very part of you they told to shrink
Is the key to your healing?

What if the thing you were told was “too much”
Is the exact medicine your body has been waiting for?

Let me tell you something they never taught us:

Twerking is not just a dance.
It’s an ancestral practice.
A somatic release.
And one of the most powerful tools I know for healing sexual trauma.

The Sacred Roots of Twerking

Before TikTok.

Before strip clubs.

Before it was labeled “ratchet” or “inappropriate” —
Twerking was a sacred practice.

It originated in West African dance traditions, particularly from countries like Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria, where movements involving the hips, pelvis, and spine have long been used in ceremonies for:

  • Fertility

  • Birth

  • Rites of passage

  • Connection to the Earth and ancestors

These dances were never about sexual performance. They were about power, grounding, and celebrating the feminine body as a vessel of life and energy.Twerking in its purest form is an embodied prayer — a way to shake off what’s been stored, suppressed, and silenced. It is somatic wisdom passed down through the hips. Trauma Lives in the Body — Especially the Hips. When we experience sexual trauma — whether a single moment or a lifetime of conditioning — our bodies remember.
We tighten.
We freeze.
We dissociate.

The pelvis — our root, our womb space, our creative center — becomes a vault for everything we didn’t get to say, feel, or release.

Talk therapy can name it.
Energy work can move it.
But nothing cracks it open like movement.Especially movement that goes straight to the source.

🍑 Why Twerking Is the Most Efficient Way to Heal Sexual Trauma

Here’s what happens when you twerk consciously, with intention and safety:

1. You bring awareness and blood flow to the pelvic floor.
Trauma often causes numbness. Twerking invites sensation.

2. You release stored tension through rhythmic, repetitive motion.
The shaking literally unbinds trauma from the tissue.

3. You rewire your nervous system by linking safety + pleasure.
You reclaim movement that was once sexualized and say: This belongs to me now.

4. You get to be wild, messy, loud, and free.
You’re not performing. You’re reclaiming. You’re remapping. You’re home.

5. You reconnect with joy. With play. With power.
Because trauma doesn’t just steal safety — it steals our aliveness.
Twerking brings it back.

This is why I created Twerk Away the Trauma

Not a fitness class.
Not a party trick.
Not a performance.

Twerk Away the Trauma is a 6-week somatic healing course for women ready to reconnect to their bodies, their power, and their sensuality — on their own terms.

Through trauma-informed twerk, breathwork, and guided practices, we’ll shake off shame and step back into pleasure — one hip at a time.

In this course, you’ll:

• Learn the cultural history + spiritual power of twerking
• Reconnect with your hips, womb, and voice
• Release stored trauma through movement + ritual
• Reclaim pleasure, presence, and embodied power
• Feel safe and sovereign in your body again

If your body is whispering “I’m ready”...

If your hips ache to move…
If your power feels buried under years of silence…

This is your invitation. Your body is not broken.
She’s just been waiting for a rhythm that feels like home.

Let’s twerk our way back to wholeness.
